a shelter for wonder
This family project, constructed with wood gathered up from the streets and skips of Lewes, creates a space within a space; a shelter to hold nature’s invitation to wonder. It’s exterior cladding makes reference to the Hoovervilles - makeshift dwellings and encampments that spread across America during the Great Depression of the 30’s. Born of uncertainty, they were also structures of uncertainty, more assemblage than architecture, determined through the act of building and by what had been foraged by the builder close at hand.
To allow for the inside to remain a ‘surprise’ for visitors during early 2026, we’ve kept interior images below to a minimum.
